I want to give you an early head’s up that the weather models are starting to show the possibility of a significant winter weather event for 10/31 to 11/01 for Western PA, Northern WV, and Eastern and Central OH.
A system, which is likely to be named, “Sandy”, should make its way to the east coast late next week and eventually cut inland marching into Western PA and colliding with a significant cold front. Given how far out the both storms are it is too soon to forecast whether this will in fact happen but it is on the table as a possibility. Make no mistake, if this storm did occur it would be nothing short of historic, dropping feet of snow and creating snow drifts the likes of which have not been seen in the east for decades. This will be of particular interest as the country readies for a major election just days after.
Here is how the ECMWF Model last depicted the scenario:
I will post again if some sort of winter weather appears likely.
